One banking ecosystem, different responsibilities

I designed the corporate and admin internet banking experience used by Zenith Bank in Sierra Leone and The Gambia, connecting payments, approvals and operational control. It sits within a wider banking group with 36.7 million customers and reported 2025 internet-banking transaction value of ₦70.52 trillion.

Customer and transaction figures describe the wider bank’s 2025 scale. My design contribution serves Sierra Leone and The Gambia.

Inside this case study

A banking experience shared across two markets

The application I designed serves Zenith Bank Sierra Leone and Zenith Bank Gambia. Corporate customers and internal bank teams work in the same ecosystem, but their responsibilities differ. My task was to keep the experience recognisable while making the relevant information and actions clear for each role.

Corporate tasks, operational responsibilities

Corporate banking brings together accounts, beneficiaries, transfers, statements and approvals. I organised these journeys around the task being completed, while keeping transaction review and authorisation visible. The admin experience supports the operational side of that customer journey.

Permissions shape the interface

A consistent visual language does not mean every user sees the same controls. I treated permissions as part of the experience: customers need to understand their next step, while bank teams need the appropriate operational controls and audit information.

PAPSS: making a complex payment understandable

I worked alongside another designer on PAPSS across individual and corporate banking. The journey brings country and bank selection, beneficiary verification, payment information, exchange rates, fees, review and authentication into one flow. I also used React demonstrations to communicate interaction behaviour alongside the production team’s Angular direction.

A shared foundation, separate responsibilities

I worked on a shared, component-based banking design system across corporate, admin and mobile surfaces. Reusable forms, transaction states and review patterns gave familiar tasks a consistent structure, while permissions determined the controls available to each user. I carried those decisions into discussions with engineering so the implemented experience followed the same rules. This helped keep complex payment and approval flows predictable across the product.

Live across Sierra Leone and The Gambia

The shared application is used by Zenith Bank in both markets. The corporate and admin surfaces share a design foundation with mobile banking, supporting a coherent experience from customer transactions to internal operations.

The wider banking context

Zenith Bank Plc’s 2025 annual report lists 36,730,097 customers in its Group Financial Highlights. THISDAY’s review of the bank’s 2025 disclosures reports ₦104.14 trillion in mobile-banking transaction value and ₦70.52 trillion in internet-banking transaction value. These figures describe the wider bank’s reported scale, rather than users or payments measured through the Sierra Leone and Gambia applications I designed.

My contribution to the shared banking experience

  • Corporate internet-banking journeys and transaction review
  • Internal administration and interfaces shaped around permissions
  • Shared design system across web and mobile banking
  • PAPSS payment experience, designed in collaboration with another designer
  • Design-to-engineering collaboration through implementation
